Ventura County, California (Santa Paula, CA) – On December 20, 2023, a woman was killed and two others were critically injured in a car accident east of Santa Paula, CA.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Jorge Alfaro, at around 8:35 a.m., the collision was reported. The incident occurred on the roadway, also known as Telegraph Road, near the intersection with Boosey Road. The woman was a passenger in a 2018 Honda Civic traveling west on the 126. A 35-year-old man from Santa Clarita was driving. The woman was identified as a 29-year-old from Santa Clarita. Honda went into oncoming traffic on the eastbound side for unknown reasons. The automobile collided with a 1999 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by a 44-year-old Fillmore man. The woman’s name was not immediately revealed.
Two survivors were airlifted to Ventura County Medical Center with serious injuries. The patients had been extricated from the wreckage by firefighters. As of early afternoon, there had been no update on their conditions. Two additional drivers in separate vehicles were involved in a collision with debris but were not hurt. The collision shut down lanes on the 126 for several hours. By 11 a.m., all lanes had been reopened.
The road was wet, according to Alfaro, but it was unclear whether inclement weather played a role. Alcohol and drugs were not issues. The crash is still being investigated. Witnesses are encouraged to contact the CHP in Ventura at 805-662-2640.
