Columbia County, Oregon (OR) – On April 12, 2026, Oregon State Police responded to a fatal two-vehicle crash in Columbia County, OR.
According to preliminary findings, a gray Subaru Outback driven by Ronald Craig Powers, 69-year-old, of Longview, was traveling westbound near Rainier when it crossed into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a red Ford Focus. The Ford was driven by Randy Charles Bloom, 62-year-old, of Scappoose.
Bloom was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in the Ford, Shana Jean Bloom, 59-year-old, also of Scappoose, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Powers was airlifted by Life Flight to a hospital with serious injuries. Highway 30 was affected for approximately six hours while authorities conducted an on-scene investigation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
