Butte County, California (Oroville, CA) – On April 14, 2025, according to California Highway Patrol officials, a vehicle struck a pedestrian on the southbound lane of HWY 70 in Oroville, CA.
The Oroville CHP office reported that 22-year-old Monique Dellacruz was driving around 8:45 p.m. when 38-year-old Dustin Joel Perry ran into the roadway. Perry was crossing from the west side of Highway 70 when Dellacruz spotted him and attempted to stop.
Officials stated that Dellacruz attempted to avoid the collision by braking and swerving, but her vehicle struck Perry, and he died due to his injuries.
The Butte County Sheriff’s Office carried out a coroner’s investigation and confirmed that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the incident.
