Lane County, Oregon (OR) – On Friday, November 7, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m., OSP assisted a three-car collision on State Route 569 near milepost 0 in Lane County, OR.

According to the preliminary investigation, a westbound Honda Accord driven by Russell Fredrick Moncrief (52) of Eugene suddenly braked, resulting in a rear-end collision with a westbound Chevrolet Silverado operated by Scott Allen Zipprich (52) of Elmira. The impact pushed the Chevrolet into the eastbound lanes, where it collided head-on with an eastbound Dodge Stratus driven by Vincent George Canham (84) of Eugene.

Moncrief, the driver of the Honda, was not injured. Zipprich, operating the Chevrolet, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Canham, the driver of the Dodge, was taken to a hospital but later pronounced deceased. His passenger, Rolf Bertel Johansson (77) of Sweden, suffered minor injuries and was also transported for medical evaluation.

The roadway remained closed for roughly eight hours while investigators worked at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Oregon State Police were assisted at the scene by Eugene Fire, Springfield Fire, and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).
