December 29, 2025

Los Angeles County, California (Boyle Heights, CA) – On December 28, 2025, a deadly multi-vehicle crash early left one person dead and sent at least 10 others to local hospitals in Boyle Heights, CA.

The collision occurred around 4:46 a.m. on the transition ramp connecting the southbound 5 Freeway to the westbound 10 Freeway. Emergency responders arrived to find a chaotic scene involving several vehicles, including at least one car fully engulfed in flames.

Fire crews from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched to extinguish the blaze and assist victims. As a result of the crash, all lanes of the transition ramp were closed for several hours, with officials estimating the closure would remain in effect until approximately 11:30 a.m., said Sgt. Adam Bender of the California Highway Patrol. Investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash. The incident is now being examined by the CHP’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team, known as MAIT, which specializes in complex and fatal collisions.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, a total of 15 people were evaluated at the scene. Ten of those individuals required hospitalization for further treatment. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details about the victims or the circumstances leading up to the crash.
