Utah County, Utah (UT) – On January 16, 2026, a 14-year-old has passed away following a severe off-road vehicle accident in Utah County, UT.
The teenager was one of six youths involved in a rollover crash on Friday night in the western part of the county. The tragic update was confirmed Sunday night by the Utah Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) Division of Law Enforcement. In a statement posted to social media, the agency announced the passing of the teen, who had been hospitalized in critical condition since the incident.
The accident took place on Friday evening when the off-road vehicle, carrying six teenagers, rolled over. Chase Pili, a captain and public information officer for Utah DNR law enforcement, provided details on the immediate aftermath. He noted that while multiple occupants sustained injuries, the situation was most dire for one passenger who was thrown from the vehicle during the crash.
Following the ejection, the 14-year-old was airlifted via Life Flight to a hospital in Salt Lake County for urgent medical care. Despite the efforts of medical personnel over the weekend, the youth succumbed to their injuries. The specific conditions of the other five teenagers involved in the crash have not been released beyond the initial confirmation of injuries.
