Los Angeles County, California (Santa Clarita, CA) – On February 10, 2026, authorities detained a 17-year-old male at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey following a deadly collision in Santa Clarita, CA.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reports that the teenager was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and felony DUI. The crash occurred around 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Bouquet Canyon Road and Newhall Ranch Road. Investigators state that the suspect, whose identity is protected due to his age, holds a valid driver’s license and has no previous traffic violations on his record.
The collision claimed the lives of Genry and Patty Ortiz and left their 25-year-old daughter, Erin, hospitalized. One of the parents was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other succumbed to injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Deputies administered a breathalyzer test to the teen driver at the scene, leading to his immediate arrest.
