Columbia County, Oregon (OR) – On February 26, 2026, a motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle collision in Columbia County, OR.
According to the preliminary investigation, an eastbound Indian Chieftain motorcycle operated by Nick Anthony Verne, 32-year-old of Kalama, Washington, was traveling through a sweeping right-hand curve when it crossed the centerline into the westbound lane. The motorcycle first sideswiped a westbound Toyota 4Runner driven by Elliette Michelle Vasquez, 32-year-old, of Astoria, before colliding head-on with a westbound Toyota RAV4 operated by Kenneth Edward Uphoff, 73 years old, of Ocean Park, Washington.
Verne was pronounced dead at the scene. Vasquez and her passenger, Michael Evaristo Vasquez, 60-year-old, of Astoria, sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local medical center for treatment. Uphoff was reportedly not injured in the crash.
Oregon State Police was assisted by local law enforcement and emergency responders.
