Lincoln County, Oregon (OR) – On April 16, 2026, Oregon State Police responded to a fatal two-vehicle crash in Lincoln County, OR.
According to the preliminary investigation, a silver Chrysler Town & Country van driven by 77-year-old Rosalea Ann Engelbrecht of Waldport was traveling westbound near Newport when it veered into the oncoming lane for unknown reasons. An eastbound gray Toyota Highlander, operated by 82-year-old John Sterling Daigle of Newport, attempted to avoid the van. However, the Chrysler continued into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with the Toyota.
Engelbrecht was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and was later pronounced deceased. Daigle sustained minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital. A passenger in the Toyota, 77-year-old Vicki Ray Bock of Newport, was transported with minor injuries as well.
Highway 20 was affected for about three hours during the investigation.
