Los Angeles County, California (Los Angeles, CA) – On April 25, 2026, a deadly chain-reaction crash left a 19-year-old man dead in Los Angeles, CA.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers received multiple reports just before 2 a.m. of a vehicle stalled with its hazard lights on in the northbound fast lane near White Oak Avenue. Footage from the scene shows a second vehicle crashing into the disabled car. The drivers of both vehicles then exited and stood in the roadway, facing away from traffic while talking.
Moments later, another car slammed into one of the vehicles, triggering a multi-car pileup. One of the drivers standing outside was struck and killed. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified him as 19-year-old Chaz Castillo. It’s not yet clear whether others were injured. One person was arrested at the scene, though details weren’t released. A Sigalert at 2:38 a.m. shut down all northbound lanes and caused heavy traffic delays even after partial reopening.
The alert was lifted around 9 a.m., when all lanes were fully reopened.
