Lane County, Oregon (Florence, OR) – On May 3, 2026, Oregon State Police responded to a fatal three-vehicle crash in Lane County, OR.

According to the preliminary investigation, a white Volvo 240 driven by Lorna Marie Trujillo, 50-year-old, of Florence, had slowed in the eastbound lane to make a left turn into a mobile home park near Rose Hill Road. A green Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail motorcycle operated by Brandon Taylor Oetken, 38-year-old, of Florence, struck the rear of the Volvo, throwing the rider onto the roadway. A second motorcycle, a white Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic ridden by John Carlos Moreno, 65-year-old, of Florence, then collided with the green motorcycle. Moreno lost control and laid the motorcycle on its side, sliding about 150 feet before stopping. Bystanders stopped to assist both injured riders.

Oetken, the rider of the green Harley-Davidson, died at the scene. Moreno was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, while Trujillo was transported as a precaution after reporting pain. The highway was affected for about an hour while investigators worked at the scene.

Multiple local emergency and law enforcement agencies assisted at the scene.
