Kern County, California (Bakersfield, CA) – On June 17, 2022, after a fatal DUI head-on collision on Highway 58 on Friday, a woman was detained on murder charges and other felonies.
At approximately 8:17 p.m., authorities from the California Highway Patrol went into a head-on collision on Highway 58 west of General Beale Road on Friday. A Nissan Sentra and a Chevy Silverado were involved in the crash. Ayana Council, 27-year-old, of San Mateo, California, was travelling west on Highway 58 in her Nissan Sentra when she executed an offensive manoeuvre, causing her vehicle to leave the road. Council’s vehicle crossed the median and onto the eastbound lanes of Highway 58.
Authorities say Council collided with the side of the vehicle in Silverado, which was being operated by a 52-year-old San Ramon, Calif., resident who has yet to be named. Silverado flipped numerous times as a result of the incident. Council was transported to the hospital to be treated. Silverado’s operator was killed in the accident. According to booking documents, Council was detained on allegations of murder, gross vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI. She is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
