Riverside County, California (Hemet, CA) – On Wednesday, May 17, a woman named Linda Owens of Menifee died in a car accident in Hemet, CA.
It happened just after 6 in the evening in California Avenue’s 26000 block, near Highway 74. According to CHP, Owens was driving her 2016 Kia Sorento due westbound when she lost control and veered off the two-lane road. Her speed was undetermined.
She then struck an embankment and flew in the air, stopping to rest near the roadway. This caused 73-year-old Owens to die on the scene. Police say she may have suffered a stroke or medical emergency which caused the accident and subsequently her death. She had a front-seat occupant, an unidentified 41-year-old man from Menifee, who was luckily uninjured.
An autopsy on Owens will be done Thursday, and an investigation is underway. Any witness is urged to come forward and contact the CHP San Gorgonio office at 951-769-2000.
