Santa Barbara County, California (CA) – On August 19, 2023, a two-car crash left an individual dead and five others injured on Highway 154 in Santa Barbara County, CA.
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire, the deadly event took place north of San Antonio Creek Road. Also east of Painted Cave Road, in a place called “Windy Gap” by CalTrans, is where the event occurred. According to SBCF Spokesperson Scott Safechuck, the two-car collision happened at around 1:46 A.M. The two automobiles involved in the collision were a black Infinity SUV and a white Nissan Altima.
According to Safechuck, the Nissan Altima’s lone male driver was declared deceased at the site. The person’s name is being concealed at this time while their next of kin are notified. According to Safechuck, two people who were involved in the SUV had significant injuries and were transferred to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The other three individuals in the SUV also suffered moderate injuries and were all transported by ground ambulance to Cottage Hospital.
The California Highway Patrol halted both sides of Highway 154 overnight and reopened the road at approximately 7:15 a.m., as per CalTrans.
