San Bernardino County, California (Rialto, CA) – On August 1, 2022, a tremendous, blazing incident involving eight automobiles at a Rialto junction Monday evening killed at least three individuals and wounded two others.
Just before 7 p.m., the collision occurred along Riverside Avenue and Valley Boulevard, in front of a petrol station. According to Rialto police, a motorist racing down Valley Boulevard collided with another motorist that was stopped at the junction. The incident set off a chain reaction of accidents.
Bystanders sought to extinguish the flames in the aftermath of the crash. According to Rialto police, they tried to save the deceased from the engulfing flames, but it was too risky. Five automobiles were severely damaged in the incident, according to footage from the site, including two that were crushed together after the impact. Following the collision, the two automobiles caught fire. There were two other automobiles nearby that seemed to have minimal damage. According to authorities, three people were killed and two others were wounded and transferred to a local hospital.
It’s unclear whether the aggressive motorist was one of those murdered. Police are still looking into how fast the motorist was travelling. According to Rialto police, there is presently no evidence that alcohol was a factor in the incident. The cause of the incident is still being investigated.
