Los Angeles County, California (Huntington Park, CA) – On August 1, 2022, a hit-and-run incident with a Metro bus caused the bus operator and two occupants injuries in Huntington Park.
At around 1:15 a.m., the bus was headed northbound on Pacific Boulevard when a motorist traveling east on Clarendon Avenue allegedly crossed a red light. The bus and the automobile were involved in a head-on incident.
Based on the initial investigation, the bus was T-boned, leading it to collide directly into a light pole. The hit-and-run operator was driving a silver 2000 Scion TC. According to Jager, the bus driver suffered leg injuries. Footage from the site indicates the operator was stuck in the debris and had to be cut out of the seat by fire authorities. Two other passengers on the bus were injured. Responding workers are seen carrying all three individuals out of the bus and onto stretchers in video of the incident. They were transported to a local hospital.
All three victims all suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The event is being investigated by police, and the motorist who escaped is being sought.
