Deschutes County, Oregon (Bend, OR) – On May 6, 2022, 87-year-old Bend woman was badly hurt in an accident at a major Northeast Bend junction Friday morning when she moved her SUV into the path of a pickup truck pulling a utility trailer.
For roughly three and a half hours, 27th Street was closed for the investigation. Just after 10 a.m., authorities and Bend Fire Medics were dispatched to the stated two-car collision between Conners Avenue and 27th Street. Based on the initial investigation, a 35-year-old Sisters woman was driving a vehicle carrying a utility trailer north on 27th Street. The Bend woman, operating a Subaru Forester, attempted to make a left turn in front of the truck, which collided with the SUV’s driver’s side.
The Subaru operator suffered significant injuries and was transferred to St. Charles Bend. The truck driver stayed on site and helped with the inquiry. No charges have been issued, investigation is still ongoing.
Bend Officers were summoned to the area, and they were supported by the Oregon State Police and Bend Fire & Rescue. 27th Street was blocked between Wells Acres and Neff roads until around 1:30 p.m.

Baker County, Oregon (OR) - On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, an accident closed the roadway while road crews removed a truck that was carrying a wind turbine tower along I-84 in eastern Oregon, Baker County, OR.
According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, the crash occurred between Baker City and Ontario, near milepost 332. The agency has blocked I-84 eastbound just outside La Grande, and all lanes of the roadway from Exit 304 north of Baker City to Exit 374, three miles west of Ontario.
U.S. 30 is closed to non-local traffic and does not serve as an effective detour route for I-84.
The closures are likely to continue for several hours, according to ODOT. A huge piece of the wind turbine tower looks to be resting on the pavement after crashing through a concrete barrier.
