Los Angeles County, California (Industry, CA) – On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, a 12-year-old boy died and an individual was injured in a wrong-way accident in Industry, CA.
The event happened at 5 a.m. As per the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around Crossroads Parkway and initially required a shutdown of all westbound lanes. All lanes are currently open. According to a CHP spokesman, the collision was caused by a car traveling the wrong way on the 60 Freeway.
The motorist, who has not been recognized but was driving a Hyundai Sedan, was originally traveling westbound when they collided with a large truck west of Crossroads Parkway. The motorist left the area after the first incident and started driving eastward in the westbound lane, resulting in a fatal wrong-way crash. The wrong-way incident was a head-on collision involving five automobiles. The motorist in the wrong-way car left the area on foot and is still at large. The only detail available about the suspect was that they were operating a Hyundai Sedan. Despite attempts to save her life, a female passenger in another car involved in the second incident was pronounced dead at the site. The boy was 12-year-old, while authorities had previously said she was 11-year-old.
Another individual was taken to a hospital in uncertain condition.
