Lane County, Oregon (OR) – On Saturday, September 25, 2021, at approximately 2:19 PM., OSP and emergency workers rescued a collision between two motorcycles on Hwy 126 E close to milepost 13, east of Mackenzie Bridge.
The initial reports revealed that a blue 1993 BMW K11 motorcycle, driven by Karly Rudolph Klassen, 60-year-old, from Springfield, Oregon was heading eastbound on 126E and moved into the oncoming lane of travel, most likely to pass other motorists. A second motorbike, a maroon 2014 Harley-Davidson driven by Michael Brad Siegel, 68-year-old of Tucson, Arizona, was T-boned by the blue BMW as it was making a left-hand turn into a forest service road.
Medical professionals who happened to be nearby administered life-saving procedures, but Klassen sustained critical injuries and was declared dead on the spot.
Siegel was airlifted to Riverbend Hospital in Springfield with critical injuries. Siegel was interrogated at the hospital later that night and verified what the evidence at the incident had revealed. He is in the ICU but is expected to make a full recovery.
