San Bernardino County, California (San Bernardino, CA) – On August 15, 2023, a multi-vehicle collision killed one on the Interstate 10 Freeway, east of Cypress Avenue in San Bernardino, CA.
The California Highway Patrol claims the crash happened around 3:04 a.m., and as many as five drivers who were involved in the crash have been found by CHP personnel who have reacted to the westbound I-10 Freeway lanes. The victim was identified as Brittany Anne Parra, 28-year-old of Pomona. According to police, two of the cars involved were a white 2007 BMW 328 sedan and a silver 2023 Toyota RAV 4 SUV. Two of the cars that hit and rolled over in the HOV lane were involved in the first incident. At a construction site, a witness reported to 911 operators that the cars were obscured by blackouts and hard to see. Another caller reported that their white Mercedes Benz sideswiped the colliding automobiles to the dispatchers. Others called to say that they nearly collided with the darkened automobiles. Five automobiles in all were involved in the incident and sustained damage.
Sadly, Brittany Parra received serious injuries in the collision and passed away at the site at 3:24 a.m., according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner. Paramedics were sent to the scene to assist the injured. Five damaged cars were pulled from the highway for inspection by tow trucks while this was happening. Additionally, the BMW 328 and RAV4 were seized by police.
Investigators are working on the case to identify who is at fault.
