San Francisco County, California (CA) – On October 2, 2023, a woman is in critical condition after being trapped beneath an autonomous vehicle in San Francisco, CA.
According to police, the incident happened at approximately 9:31 p.m., on Monday night. When cops arrived, they discovered the lady stuck beneath a Cruise autonomous car. According to firefighters, they had to use the “jaws of life” to remove the automobile from the woman before taking to the hospital with multiple injuries. Cruise stated that another motorist struck the woman, throwing her into the path of one of their autonomous vehicles before fleeing the scene.
The San Francisco sister station provided footage of the accident, revealing that another car hit the victim first, despite ABC7 News’s refusal to capture it to protect the police investigation. Due to the severity of the hit, the victim flung into the path of the cruise car before being run over.
Police are investigating, but are unsure if it was a hit-and-run.
