Contra Costa County, California (Concord, CA) – On March 13, 2022, Robbie Herrera, the owner of a Tesla Model 3, was traveling on Highway 4 in Concord, California. Oncoming traffic was coming to a complete halt. It was a surefire recipe for a disastrous pileup.
Fortunately, Robbie was able to bring his Model 3 to a safe stop, even leaving some space between the Tesla and the leading vehicle. Unfortunately, the operator of a Dodge minivan was not paying any attention and had no desire to stop. The minivan operator veered and locked up the brakes at the last second before rear-ending Robbie’s Model 3 on the highway.
Following the incident, the Model 3 swung out and collided with the Hyundai in front of it and the Prius to its left. Tesla eventually collided with a highway barrier. Luckily, everyone engaged in the numerous crashes was able to walk away, demonstrating the safety of today’s automobiles. However, Robbie’s Model 3 was severely damaged, and he was transported to the hospital to have some of his injuries looked out. While waiting for an ambulance, Robbie was able to show the authorities the TeslaCam video from the event. He’s currently working with an insurance company, and his Tesla Model 3 is a total loss.
Once everything is settled, Robbie hopes to replace his Model 3 with another Tesla. He’s opting to buy another Tesla since his Model 3 saved his life, in his view. Robbie is undoubtedly fortunate, given the state of the automobile as depicted in the footage.
