San Luis Obispo County, California (Nipomo, CA) – One individual died in a terrible accident when a big truck crashed on Highway 101 on Nipomo resulted in a piece of heavy machinery crashing onto a vehicle on the off-ramp beneath.
The Tribune at the site that a big-rig truck with an excavator on the trailer collided with the railing for unclear reasons. “The excavator exited the trailer, slid down the hill to the Willow Road off-ramp, and crashed on top of the SUV.”
One northbound lane of Highway 101 was restricted at the Willow Road exit in Nipomo. At 4:21 p.m., the vehicle went off the road and collided with the barrier on Highway 101. The construction equipment slipped from the trailer and landed approximately 30 feet from the highway, killing the driver of a white Cadillac Escalade on the Willow Road off-ramp underneath.
A third car, a black sedan, was also involved in the accident. The number of other persons involved in the collision was unknown as of Wednesday evening.
