Kern County, California (Bakersfield, CA) – On November 8, 2025, a 21-year-old man from Wasco was arrested on suspicion of DUI following a fatal crash on northbound Interstate 5 in Bakersfield, CA.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 11:10 p.m. on November 8, 2025, just north of Templin Highway. When officers arrived, they found a 61-year-old man, the driver of a white Jeep Cherokee, who had been ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver, identified as 21-year-old Martin Enrique Cazares, was behind the wheel of a silver Toyota Camry. After speaking with investigators, Cazares was determined to be under the influence and at fault in the crash. He was arrested and booked into the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Station in Santa Clarita on charges of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
CHP reported that traffic on Interstate 5 was halted for about an hour while the scene was cleared. The crash remains under investigation.
