Linn County, Oregon (OR) – On July 31, 2025, the Oregon State Police responded to a fatal vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Highway 228 in Linn County, OR.
According to the preliminary investigation, a white Dodge Ram towing a utility trailer—driven by 39-year-old Justin Cane Clark of Junction City—was heading west on Highway 228 near milepost 2 when the trailer hit a pedestrian. The pedestrian, 46-year-old Elijah A. Copeland of Eugene, had exited a red Toyota Tacoma and stepped into the westbound lane for reasons that remain unknown.
Copeland was pronounced dead at the scene. The Dodge Ram’s driver, Clark, and passenger, 38-year-old Mikala Frances Craigmiles of Junction City, were uninjured.
The highway was closed during the on-scene investigation.
