A study by the Insurance Information Institute and State Farm shows that the majority of dog bite claims in the country came out of California in 2018. State Farm said they filed 3,280 dog bite claims in the US during 2018 and 409 of those dog bites came out of the state of California.
California accounts for 12.5% of all dog bites across the nation. While this may be alarming California accounts for 12% of the US population as well. It does not appear that being in California will increase you chance of being bitten by a dog but rather being in a larger populated area will. Dog bites are serious and lead to serious medical bill and emotional trauma. In 2018 State Farm paid out $123 million for dog bite injury claims in the entire US with an average of $37,500 per dog bite case.
Dog bites often lead to serious deep tissue scarring and emotional trauma. State Farm’s average payout of $37,500 shows the needs of a qualified dog bite lawyer. A lawyer will do their best to fight for a fair compensation that covers medical bills, emotinal trauma and other costs to a dog bite that may be unuiqe to your case.
