Orange County, California (Fullerton, CA) – On Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, two people were killed in a multi-vehicle accident in Fullerton, CA.
One of the people who died, a motorcyclist, may have been racing, according to eyewitnesses. At around 9 in the morning, at the intersection of Flower and Magnolia Avenues, officers from the Fullerton Police Department found an Audi sedan, a Toyota Sienna minivan, and a Yamaha R6 motorcycle with “significant damage”. The other person who died was a 70-year-old woman pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to the police report, the Audi and the motorcyclist were both northbound on Magnolia from Orangethorpe, and were traveling at a “high rate of speed”. They struck the Toyota minivan which was making a turn on Flower from Magnolia’s southbound side. Witnesses reported seeing the latter two vehicles “racing.” “The motorcyclist struck the rear passenger side of the minivan, causing 35-year-old motorcyclists to be ejected from his vehicle,” police mentioned in a press release. The Audi struck the van’s front passenger side which caused it to veer off the road. It then struck a bicyclist and a pedestrian, who were on a nearby sidewalk. It continued driving and eventually crashed into a telephone pole near a residence and caused a gas leak. The gas was briefly turned off while multiple residents were evacuated, but it didn’t take long for the residents to return home. The minivan’s driver and a 15-year-old boy sustained minor injuries, and police reported that the Audi’s driver said they experienced some back pain. An investigation is continuing to determine the cause of the accident, and at this point they do not believe that alcohol or drugs were involved.
