Curry County, Oregon (OR) – On August 31, 2023, OSP attended a multi-vehicle collision at around 5:18 p.m., on HWY 101, close to milepost 340 in Curry County, OR.
According to the preliminary investigation, a Subaru Outback driven by Skyanna Marie Goodland, a 42-year-old from Tillamook was traveling north on US-101 near milepost 340 when it crossed the center line, sideswiped a Chrysler Pacifica driven by Heather Anne Serna, a 50-year-old from Brookings, and then collided head-on with a Hyundai Veloster driven by Brandon Michael Cunliffe Owen, a 34-year-old from Brookings. The Hyundai’s driver, Cunliffe Owen, died on the spot.
The driver of the Subaru (Goodland) was freed from the vehicle and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Serna, the Chrysler’s driver, was taken to the hospital by a private party for minor wounds. During the on-site inquiry, there was a 3.5-hour delay in traffic on the motorway. At this time, the incident’s cause is being investigated.
The Gold Beach Police Department, Pistol River Fire, Gold Beach Fire and Rescue, Curry County Sheriff’s Office, and ODOT all assisted OSP.
