Sonoma County, California (Santa Rosa, CA) – On February 7, 2022, CHP attended to a deadly accident on US-101 in the North Bay.
At about 1:38 p.m., CHP Santa Rosa shared on Twitter that the incident occurred on the southbound lanes between Healdsburg Ave. and Old Redwood Highway. Southbound lanes were blocked and traffic was detoured through Healdsburg Avenue and the Old Redwood Highway. As per authorities, the incident involving many automobiles occurred about 1:02 p.m. and closed both lanes.
One person was killed and two others were seriously injured. A Dodge truck operated by Todd Beth, 47-year-old, of Santa Rosa, was rushing along southbound lanes approaching traffic that was delayed due to construction. The pickup truck failed to slow down and collided with a white Subaru and a black Hyundai Tucson. The Hyundai sustained significant damage after colliding with a fence and veering back into a Chevrolet truck. In addition, the Subaru was slammed into another vehicle, a blue Hyundai. The drivers of those vehicles were traveling at a relatively low speed due to the construction zone.
The black Hyundai Tucson was carrying three ladies, one of whom perished in the rear seat. The other two were taken to the hospital for medical attention. Todd Beth was transported to the hospital for treatment as well, and he was helping with the investigation. There were no additional injuries were recorded. Officers do not think drugs or alcohol played a role in this tragedy.
