Clatsop County, Oregon (OR) – On Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at around 6:24 P.M., OSP attended a two-car incident on HWY 101 close to milepost 2.5 in Clatsop County, OR.
According to initial reports, a northbound blue 2002 Nissan Xterra SUV driven by Edgar Mandujano Rodriguez, 29-year-old of Beaverton was attempting to pass other northbound automobiles on the Megler bridge when it collided with a southbound blue 2013 Ford C-MAX SUV driven by Connie Jackson, 64-year-old of Astoria.
The head-on collision severely damaged both cars and prompted the Xterra to burst into flames. Mandujano Rodriguez was discovered dead on the spot. Jackson was airlifted to a hospital in Portland in serious condition.
The Astoria Fire Department, Astoria Police Department, Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol, and ODOT all supported OSP.
