Yamhill County, Oregon (OR) – On Thursday, January 19, 2023, at about 4:30 p.m., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency workers went to a complaint of a two-vehicle accident on the Hwy 18 Bypass around milepost 57, west of Dundee Landing Rd, in Yamhill County, OR.
According to early findings, a black 2020 Toyota Rav4 driven by John William McKevitt, 71-year-old, of Lincoln City was going westbound on the Hwy 18 Bypass when it entered the eastbound lane and struck head-on with a red Subaru Outback driven by Kimberly Yost Champawat 60-year-old of Gresham.
McKevitt died as a result of his wounds and was declared dead at the site. Champawat was critically injured and was flown to hospital by air ambulance. The Highway 18 Newburg-Dundee Bypass, from Highway 219 to Highway 99W, was blocked for around four hours for the on-scene investigation.
