Douglas County, Oregon (OR) – On Friday, January 14, 2022, at around 5:25 PM, OSP and emergency workers attended a two-car accident on Highway 42 in milepost 75.
Based on initial investigations, a 1999 Ford Ranger truck, driven by James Chittum Jr., 75-year-old of Roseburg, was southbound on Landers Avenue moving to the Highway 42 intersection. The Ford Ranger went to Highway 42 and into the path of a westbound Harley Davidson Motorcycle, driven by Brian Porter, 54-year-old of Roseburg.
The Harley Davidson motorbike collided with the Ford Ranger, leading Porter to be flown from his motorbike. Two eastbound vehicles, a Toyota Avalon driven by Max Godek, 73-year-old of Winston, and a Honda Civic, driven by Sylas Moore-Fain, 28-year-old of Dillard, crashed with Porter in the roadway.
Porter suffered critical injuries and was declared dead. Porter had his helmet on and the rest of the people involved were on their safety belts
