San Bernardino County, California (Cajon Pass, CA) – On August 24, 2022, a fatal road accident investigation blocked the eastbound side of Highway 138 on the Phelan side.
The accident occurred at 4:54 p.m., on State Route 138, about two miles north of the I-15 freeway, close to Lone Pine Canyon Road. According to California Highway Patrol incident logs, an Oldsmobile and a truck crashed, causing the truck to flip over and trapping the occupant inside. According to the logs, a white Ford Fiesta collided with a Honda Accord.
When the San Bernardino County Fire responded to the scene, one individual was declared dead and another had severe injuries. At least two ground ambulances were dispatched to the scene. The fire department stated that they would return later to finish the emergency evacuation. The California Highway Patrol asked that SR 138 be closed on the I-15 freeway, and westbound traffic is being detoured. Hess Road meets Lone Pine Canyon Road.
The San Bernardino County Coroner has been called to the scene. This is a developing story, and more details will be added as they become accessible.
