San Luis Obispo County, California (Atascadero, CA) – On December 10, 2022, an Atascadero teen died in a fatal crash on Highway 41 near Morro Bay in Atascadero, CA.
The incident transpired just before noon on a Saturday on the south side of Bear Ridge Road. CHP identified Orion Messina, 19-year-old, of Atascadero, the operator of a 2004 Suzuki Grand Vitara going south. Messina informed the authorities that he hydroplaned while heading a right-hand curve. The vehicle then hit a hillside and reversed.
The passenger, who was 16-year-old was thrown out for not wearing a seatbelt, thus causing instant death. According to authorities, alcohol seems to be the cause of the accident. Messina was unharmed and was arrested.
