Harney County, Oregon (OR) – On December 31, 2026, OSP attended to a fatal two-vehicle collision on Highway 20 near milepost 84 in Harney County, OR.
According to investigators, a westbound Honda Accord driven by 25-year-old Christopher Emanuel Cortez Morales of Terrebonne lost control and crossed into the eastbound lane. The Honda struck an eastbound Audi A6 operated by 53-year-old Jennifer Tiffany Carey of Bend. Following the impact, the Honda rolled over, and Morales was ejected from the vehicle.
Morales was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Carey was not reported to have sustained any injuries.
Traffic on Highway 20 was affected for roughly an hour and a half while authorities conducted the on-scene investigation. Officials indicated that driver impairment is being examined as a possible contributing factor. Oregon Department of Transportation assisted Oregon State Police during the response.
