Contra Costa County, California (Antioch, CA) -On December 22, 2025, a chaotic series of events led to a fatal collision on eastbound Highway 4 in Antioch, CA.

The incident began around 10:33 a.m. at the Comfort Inn on Mahogany Way. Security personnel reported that a 27-year-old male suspect had pulled a fire alarm and physically assaulted a security guard. As Antioch Police responded to the disturbance, the suspect fled the area, heading toward the nearby Kaiser Permanente facility and Delta Fair Boulevard.

While moving through the area of Delta Bowl, the suspect reportedly spotted an Antioch Police vehicle with its emergency lights activated. In an attempt to evade law enforcement, the man climbed a perimeter fence and ran directly into the eastbound lanes of Highway 4, just east of the Somersville Road exit. Tragically, he was struck by an oncoming white Toyota Camry. According to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, the driver of the vehicle was a Senior Inspector for the DA’s office who was on duty at the time. Officials emphasized that the inspector was not involved in the initial disturbance or the police response and was simply traveling through the area.

Despite immediate life-saving efforts by the inspector and arriving officers, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
