The Douglas County Medical Examiner has released the name of the pedestrian who was killed on Sunday, August 4th after being struck by a vehicle. Shane David Dishner of Coquille was walking in the highway when he was hit by a vehicle. Next of kin have been notified.
Roseburg, Oregon – At 9:39am on August 5th, 911 dispatch received a report that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian on Highway 18E near Hatfield Drive, Roseburg. Prior to the accident dispatch had also received several reports of a male walking in the highway.
When deputies arrived on the scene they learned a 2008 Honda Civic operated by 19-Year old Curtis Weaver of Roseburg, Oregon was traveling east on Highway 138 when he struck the pedestrian who was in Weavers lane. The pedestrian who was hit and killed has yet to be identified by police.
Weave is cooperating with deputies and assisting them in the investigation of this vehicle versus pedestrian accident. Crash reconstruction experts are aiding in the investigation. While it appears the pedestrian is most likely to be at fault in this accident a full investigation is needed.
