Four Dead in Wrong Way Crash on HWY 101 – San Francisco
October 3, 2019

Update (October 4th, 2019) – Drunk Driving has been confirmed as the cause of the wrong-way crash on HWY 101. Two Chicago residents were killed in the crash as they traveled from San Francisco Airport into the city, Mary Miller of Chicago and 62-year-old Judson Bergman of Barrington, Illinois were the two passengers at the time. Berkant Ahmed was driving the taxi at the time of the crash. All 3 died with one passenger being ejected from the vehicle. The wrong-way driver was identified as 34-year-old Hillsborough resident Emilie Ross.

Original Story (October 3rd, 2019):

SAN FRANCISCO — Four people were killed in a two-vehicle crash in San Francisco involving a Taxi cab, closing the northbound lanes of Highway 101 in the early hours of Thursday morning and holding up traffic on the 101.

Just past midnight on Thursday, October 3rd, 2019 California Highway Patrol received multiple calls from motorists reporting a wrong-way driver on northbound Highway 101 just south of the Paul Avenue exit. CHP responded and found a two-vehicle crash.

An unnamed women in her 30s, driving a Volkswagen appeared to have collided head-on with a taxi cab occupied by the driver and a female and male passenger.

All four were pronounced dead, their identities have not been released pending a formal identification from the coroner’s office.

The northbound lanes of Hwy 101 were closed for about 4 hours and around 5AM two lanes were reoopened until the whole highway was reopened around 7AM.

Head-on crashes almost always lead to a fatality, especially on a highway like a highway 101. Tradigities like these are difficult but easy to see that the at-fault driver was the driver going the wrong way on a divided highway. Impairment is often the leading factor when accidents like these happen. Idiart Law group helps those who have lost loved ones like the Taxi driver and his two passengers in a car accident.

Baker County, Oregon (OR) - On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, an accident closed the roadway while road crews removed a truck that was carrying a wind turbine tower along I-84 in eastern Oregon, Baker County, OR.

According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, the crash occurred between Baker City and Ontario, near milepost 332. The agency has blocked I-84 eastbound just outside La Grande, and all lanes of the roadway from Exit 304 north of Baker City to Exit 374, three miles west of Ontario.

U.S. 30 is closed to non-local traffic and does not serve as an effective detour route for I-84.

The closures are likely to continue for several hours, according to ODOT. A huge piece of the wind turbine tower looks to be resting on the pavement after crashing through a concrete barrier.
