Lane County, Oregon (OR) – On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, Oregon State Police investigated a two-vehicle collision on HWY-58, near milepost 44, in Lane County, OR.
At 5:06 p.m., a black Toyota Camry driven by 20-year-old Isabel Macy Walth of Castro Valley, California, was heading east when it attempted to pass in the “no passing” zone and collided head-on with a gray Ford Explorer driven by Justin Kazutaka Fabrick, 33-year-old, from Eugene. At the time of the crash, the Toyota was moving westward in the oncoming lane.
While being driven to a nearby hospital, Castro Valley, California resident Kent Derek Walth, a 59-year-old passenger in the Toyota, was pronounced dead. Rozetta Kei Fan-Walth, a 62-year-old from Castro Valley, California, and Isabel Walth, the driver of the Toyota, both suffered severe injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.After suffering severe injuries, Ford’s driver (Fabrick) was taken to a nearby hospital.
During the on-scene investigation, the highway was affected for around five hours. ODOT, Eugene Fire, Springfield Fire, and Oakridge Fire all provided support to OSP.
