Riverside County, California (San Jacinto, CA) – On December 4, 2022, a man died in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on State Street and Dillon Avenue in San Jacinto, CA.
Margarito Castro, 31-year-old, of San Jacinto, was killed in a crash on Sunday night. Patch stated that Savaughn Jojuan Colon Barnes, 21-year-old, of Hemet, was later arrested by authorities on suspicion of hit-and-run following a report that he fled the area without helping the victim.
San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station says that Castro was standing on his bicycle at the junction around 8:21 p.m. when Colon reportedly struck him. Riverside County Sheriff’s Department informed that deputies rushed to the scene and located Margarito Castro on the roadway, yet, the vehicle operator involved in the accident was nowhere to be found. Witnesses say that the Hemet man was heading south at a very fast speed when he crashed into the victim and the center median. Unfortunately, the pedestrian with his bicycle died on the spot.
