Monterey County, California (Salinas, CA) – On Monday, November 22, 2021, a suspect died in a car crash after allegedly speeding past an officer.
The incident occurred between Harrison Road and Salas Road in Salinas.
At approximately 10 a.m., Salinas Police stated one of their officers was performing traffic enforcement between Main Street and Massa Street. A black Lexus SUV attempted to rush through the police. According to the police, the SUV was traveling at 75 mph when the officer tried to catch up with the culprit, who was trying to pass a white Dodge Dakota and turn left into Sala Road. The SUV collided with the Dodge and then slammed into an empty Toyota minivan parked on the side of the road.
The suspect was killed in the incident while the two individuals in the Dodge were unharmed.
