Linn County, Oregon (OR) – On October 19, 2022, at about 8:00 AM, OSP Troopers attended a multi-car accident on southbound Interstate 5 between mileposts 228 and 211.
Based on the initial reports, the estimated vehicles involved are around 15 to 20 commercial motor vehicles with 45 occupants and one confirmed death.
The Oregon Department of Transportation has temporarily removed the cable barrier in order to redirect vehicles stuck in traffic on Interstate 5. Eugene school buses have also shown up for support in relocating 30-40 accident victims to Pioneer Villa at exit 216. DEQ and HAZMAT are assisting with six CMVs that are spilling fluids onto the highway.
