Sutter County, California (CA) – On July 5, 2023, a multi-car collision caused the life of a dog, a man, and an unborn child in Sutter County, CA.
It occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. Highway 20 in Sutter County, close to the Wadsworth Canal Bridge. A 30-year-old man was operating a Nissan Versa East near the bridge with a pregnant lady in the passenger seat and a dog in the back seat. At the same time, a woman operating a Chevy Tahoe West near the bridge was followed by a man in a Ford F-150 pulling a dump trailer. According to the CHP, the operator of the Nissan crossed the double yellow lines and into the path of the Tahoe, and the two cars crashed in the westbound lane. The Ford then crashed with the Tahoe’s back end.
The Nissan operator and his pregnant passenger were trapped in the car and had to be extricated. The pregnant woman was brought to Adventist Health Rideout, where her unborn child was confirmed dead. The Nissan operator was transported to Sutter Roseville Hospital. He also died as a result of his injuries. The dog in his car died as a result of its injuries at Northpointe Animal Hospital.
Alcohol is alleged to have played a role in this traffic accident. This incident is still being investigated.
