Sacramento County, California (Galt, CA) – On March, 2, 2026, a passenger killed and the driver seriously injured in early morning collision in Galt, CA.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 3:59 a.m. near the Mingo Road off-ramp. Investigators said a red Hyundai Santa Fe drifted off the northbound lanes, crossed the dirt and grassy median, went over the Mingo Road on-ramp, and ultimately struck a tree. First responders extricated the driver from the vehicle and assisted the passenger at the scene. Both were transported to Kaiser South Sacramento Medical Center. The passenger was pronounced dead at the hospital at approximately 4:20 a.m., while the driver suffered major injuries and remains hospitalized.
CHP officials stated that alcohol is believed to have played a role in the crash. The victims’ identities will be released after their families have been notified. The driver is expected to face arrest upon release from the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing, and drivers are urged to use caution.
