Linn County, Oregon (Idanha, OR) – On February 1, 2026, a passenger was killed after a driver lost control of a vehicle while attempting to pass another car in Idanha, OR.
Oregon State Police said Curtiss Scholl, a 55-year-old of Sisters, was traveling westbound in a blue Hyundai IONIQ when he attempted to overtake another vehicle. For reasons that remain unclear, Scholl lost control of the car, which left the roadway and struck a tree.
The passenger, Kellie Jay Scholl, 53-years-old, also of Sisters, was pronounced dead at the scene. Curtiss Scholl was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a hospital. Authorities did not provide an update on his condition.
Assistance at the scene was provided by the Idanha Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
