Columbia County, Oregon (HWY 30) – On Thursday, August 8, 2019, Oregon State Police and other emergency personnel responded to the report of a single-vehicle crash on HWY 30 near milepost 39, North of Portland (1 Hour North of Portland).
A silver Cadillac Escalade, driven by Michael Scarlett (65) of Oakland California was driving eastbound when the Escalade left the roadway, went up an embankment and rolled multiple times before coming to its rest on its passenger side. The driver Scarlett received minor injuries.
There were four other occupants in the Cadillac:
- Barry Robinson Jr. (61) from Oregon City sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
- Zyrone Powell (23) from Oregon City was transported with serious injuries.
- Coleman Ewell (28) from Pleasantville, NJ minor injuries.
- Clayton Ewell (25) from Philadelphia, PA minor injuries.
Highway 30 was completely closed for 2 hours with a detour in place, and then after 2 hours, one land was opened with the other lane opening 4 hours after the accident.
Oregon State Police was assisted by Columbia River Fire and Rescue, Columbia City Police Department, and ODOT.
