A Chevy Tahoe, occupied by an unidentified adult male, was parked on the shoulder of I-5. A semi-truck was northbound and for unknown reasons left the roadway and went onto the shoulder where it crashed into the parked Chevy Tahoe.
The occupant of the Chevrolet Tahoe was transported to Salem Hospital by air ambulance with critical injuries. The driver of the semi-truck recieved minor injuries.
Names of those involved are being withheld pending notifications to family members.
This is an active investigation by Oregon State Police and more information will be released when available.
Being parked on the side of the roadway is a very dangerous situation. The move over law has helped reduce these accidents a bit but does not always apply to all vehicles on the side of the roadway. If your vehicle is on the side of the road pull it off as much as you can and if possible walk away from the car and do not stand between the car and traffic or where the car would get moved to if stuck. – Idiart Law Group
