Teenager Died After Being Hit by School Bus in San Jose, CA
October 24, 2022

San Clara County, California (San Jose, CA) – On October 21, 2022, a San Jose State football player died in a traffic tragedy while driving an electric scooter.

Camdan McWright, 18-year-old, of Panirama City, was a freshman who was declared twice the MVP of his high school federation. The university confirmed McWright’s death and said it is cooperating with the San Jose Police Department and California Highway Patrol. CHP, having jurisdiction of the said accident, is conducting an investigation for the reason that McWright was hit by a school bus. The accident occurred two blocks from the SJSU campus where McWright was hit by a school bus. Authorities policy restricts from confirming the identification of a victim prior to its notification from next kin. But Officer Mike Lee was given authority to furnish more data about the incident. Per information from Lee, referring to video and witness depositions, the school bus was carrying about 14 students and had a green light when it reached a crossroads.

McWright was heading south on the 10th street and arrived in the crossroad at the crosswalk and was crossing the opposite sidewalk, Lee said. When McWright was hit by the school bus. McWright rented the scooter from company Lime and was not wearing a helmet. He suffered major injuries right after being hit. The incident transpired two blocks from the San Jose State area and continues under investigation. The school announced later on Friday that they are cooperating with the CHP, SJSU University Police Department, SJSU Student Affairs and SJSU Athletics in the fallout of this tragedy.

Students involved in the tragedy are provided with counselors for psychosocial activities.
