Teenager was Killed in a Car Accident in Thousand Oaks, CA
April 19, 2023

Ventura County, California (Thousand Oaks, CA) – On Tuesday, April 18, 2023, a crash occurred in front of a high school in Thousand Oaks, CA.

The driver was wanted for a stabbing at Simi Valley’s Walmart. The crash killed a 15-year-old boy and injured at least three other people, according to authorities. The incident occurred in the afternoon near Westlake High School on E Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Lakeview Canyon Road. AIR7HD was able to capture the scene containing a white car that was upside down.

The Simi Valley Police Department told ABC7 that the unidentified driver was involved in a stabbing incident where he assaulted a Walmart employee and then fled. Reports on the crash followed a few hours later. There were at least four people were struck and sustained injuries, but two of them were already treated and discharged. The 15-year-old boys who died have not been identified, and the other victims are still confined to hospital due to their critical condition. A sophomore at Westlake High School named Erik Bergh said that one of the people who was hit was his friend who was also almost hit. “I was walking with my friends and I think I was turned the other way at that point and then the next moment I heard some loud screeching. It sounded like a car was on the sidewalk and people were running and screaming and then I turned around to see this big car running fast towards me and stuff flying everywhere,” he said.

The cause of the crash is still unknown, as well as the condition of the suspect, but the Walmart employee he stabbed earlier is still in the hospital, thankfully in stable condition, according to the police. It’s also unclear if the people struck by the car were students at Westlake High School.
