Lincoln County, Oregon (OR) – On Monday, April 22, 2024, OSP assisted in a two-car accident on HWY 101 close to milepost 143 within the Newport City limits in Lincoln County, OR.
According to the initial inquiry, a red Chevrolet Monte Carlo was going southbound on Highway 101 when it entered the center lane into the northbound lane for unexplained reasons and crashed with a white Honda Odyssey.
Heidi Fay Rock 74-year-old of Waldport, the operator of the Chevrolet, was taken to a nearby hospital and ultimately died as a result of injuries incurred during the incident. Celeste Diana Paulson 38-year-old of Newport, the Honda’s driver, and two minor passengers (a 6-year-old and a 4-month-old) were sent to a nearby hospital with alleged minor injuries.
There was traffic on the freeway for around four hours.
